Sacrifices- San Bernabe- Week 3

Sooooo, you were taking about sacrifices and how it makes you love the people that you serve more. It is so true that we love people more the more we sacrifice for them. Like, in my last area, I got to love the people so much, because I could do so much for them. There were always things to do to help out. They needed a ton of help and were grateful for what we did for them. When we helped, it made us love them more, which made us want to help more. Here, I'm not there yet, because these people seem not to need as much. But for example, back when I was in La Estanzuela, we always worked a ton, and it was super hard to get people to church. All week long we would get up into the tops of the mountain with the mud and the cold rain and teach the people in their impoverished houses, and it was really hard, and we gave them everything we had, and then Sunday they wouldn't show up for church. And we didn't really understand. Because we sacrificed so much, and we tried so hard to show them all the blessing they were going to get, how much their lives were going to improve, and they just wouldn't show up. And there is a scripture that I really like that talks about that a little. Its in Jacob 5 verse 41, "And it came to pass that the Lord of the vineyard wept, and said unto the servant: What could I have done more for my vineyard?" He did everything he could to help us get back to Their presence. He did his part perfectly, and there are people that just don't accept His help. And so I got to feel a little bit of that. Not a lot obviously, because there are a ton of things I can do better, and there are plenty of failures on my part that I ought to overcome to be a better servant. When we as missionaries, or in any capacity, seek to help others, and they don't do the necessary to help themselves, we come to feel a small portion of what Christ has to feel towards us. And then we need to get better. Because we don't want to make him feel like that.
Sorry, that got more preachy maybe than my other emails, but I'm realizing more and more that I'm turning into a more and more preachy style of missionary. That probably sounds a little weird, and doesn't make a lot of sense, but it requires imagination.
But that is about it. Not a lot of news her. We ate carne asada today, and then helped the hermano fix his sink that he broke. It was fun. I hope you all have fun in McCall. I love you guys. I'll talk to you later!!!!!!
