Soo, there are a lot of "holy week" activities here, but we didn't really get to participate in any of them. Like apparently there were several Crucifixion reenactments this Friday around town, but we didn't see any of them. The week went by pretty uneventfully. Sometimes, it is hard here, because everybody, just about everybody here, is a convert, so they don't really know what they should be doing.
And PMG (Preach My Gospel) is a great book, and that guy in the story (in Chapter 9) lives in my last stake, and I have shaken his hand. And you aren't the lame family, maybe a little bit, but they should be super happy if you give them gift cards. And if they aren't then they are spoiled, and they should come to Hidalgo for a week. (We cancelled our dinner appointment with our missionaries, because we went out of town. We tried to make it up to them by giving them a gift card to a restaurant) Just kidding, but it is super awesome when the members help. It is really hard in this area, because making food takes a lot of time and money, which missionaries don't really have, so we normally eat what we can find cheapest. We make this fried bread my comp knew how to make with beans and chorizo and lettuce or we eat pasta with tomato sauce on it and steamed carrots with butter. We are just kind of experimenting, and it is okay. But eating with members is way better.
And yes, here we do everything in our church meetings because the branch is so small. This week in sacrament meeting we prepared and blessed the sacrament. We didn't pass, because the ex-branch president showed up for the first time in months. Then I talked, then me and my companion sang Yo se que vive mi señor, or I Know That My Redeemer Lives, and then my companion talked. In front of our 14 fellow church attenders. Then we taught a gospel principles class, made up of showing, "Because of Him" from mormon.org, and "He Is Risen" from biblevideos.org, which are the best videos ever. Especially "Because of Him." If you haven't seen it, go look it up right now, and then post it on Facebook, and then come back and read the rest of the email.
Ok, now that that's done. We then talked about those videos, and then we moved on to teach the Young Women's class, because there were 2 Young Women among the 3 people that were sticking around for third hour. So, we did everything, but it isn't soo bad. I still don't like speaking in sacrament meeting, even if there isn't anybody there, but I think I will get used to it here.
So, let's see, what else? I have just been thinking a lot about these super awesome videos the church makes, and how easy it is to use them to share the gospel, and how blessed we are to be in the best church ever. Because while we were watching our videos in church, S, our investigator that claims to be an atheist, but accepts us as prophets, was almost tearing up, so we will see how that shook his little atheism wall.
I hope you all have an awesome week and that you all do the good things you know you should do. Like post that video to Facebook, if you haven't already done it. And we are checking out where we are going to do this whole Skype thing on Mother's Day. We have a few possible locations, but we will see how it all works out. But fear not, it will be okay. I will talk to you all later, and I hope that you are happy with the size of this email. I think that I did pretty well, so see you later. Love you all. Bye!!!!"
