A Story, A Gospel Principle, A Spanish Fun Fact, and 9 Pictures- Estanzuela- Week 23

Okay, lets see, what can I tell you about.... well first off I'll respond a bit to your email. I do know that Bishop Clawson is a really good bishop, because here I have seen a few bishops or branch presidents that don't really care as much or put in as much work as he does. About transfers- It is going to be next week and on April 1. I should be in a new area. And I'm just about super ready for this change. I won't complain about the area. I love this area, and I have learned a lot here, but working like this in the same place for 6 months isn't super awesome. Annnndddd...... I'm going to send pictures to you!!!!!!! because I don't think I've done that in a long time, so I will get right on that!!

Here we have a picture of me and my companion in front of a painting, me and my companion on top of a roof, and me and one of the "streets" in my area. We took this picture, because it was a rare moment when there weren't any borrachos (drunks) outside drinking.

These are pictures that I took today in a place called cueva de los murcielagos, or the cave of the bats, so basically, the bat cave. First, I took a picture of the sign that says we shouldn't go up. Then there is a picture of the cave up close, and a picture of me in front of the cave.

These are more pictures from the top

And so, that is what we did today. And now, I'm left with the problem of what to write to you. mmmmmm... One of the most interesting thing, and talking about one of the themes of your email is that U, I'm pretty sure I told you about him before. He is a less active 22 year old who was super excited about going on a mission like 3 weeks ago, because he broke up with his girlfriend. Well, we stopped by his house last night, because his mom is more or less active every once in a while, but she didn't go, so we were going to go and start getting her excited for this week, but when we showed up she was super stressed out, because the girlfriend of U (yes, the same one he broke up with a few weeks ago) is pregnant and had some problems, and there was a risk of miscarriage. So they (U and V) were running around in hospitals and clinics all day trying to figure out what to do. But they didn't really want to tell V parent's that she was pregnant, and they didn't find out until yesterday, while U's side of the family has known for a while I guess. But then at the end of it all, the parents of the girl tricked U and her to go to there house where they started yelling at U and kicked him out. So, why do I tell you that story? Because this was a super awesome family, the dad was a councilor to the branch president, they are endowed, but they went inactive and don't keep the commandments and now they are in the middle of this mess. And it's just interesting to me how, if we just do what the Lord tells us, everything will be okay. Not that we won't have problems or that we will never be sad or stuff like that. But you're not going to have a problem like that if you live the law of chastity. The mom of this kid could avoid a whole lot of health problems if she would just stop drinking coffee. And they could all relieve a lot of their stress if they would do easy things like go to church, read the scriptures, and pray. So, this is something I have seen a lot in this area. I told you earlier, I love this area, but it has been a real struggle, because I have seen a lot of people, and I mean just about all of these people, make really stupid decisions, because they don't keep the Lord's commandments. (And the word stupid here is really strong, but I don't remember it being that strong in English, so don't be offended, anybody. Like, before people use the word "estupido," they excuse themselves first and everything, like it is a really bad word here. So I'm not using a bad word or anything, but I want to stress how strongly I dislike these bad decisions.) So, there is a story and a gospel principle type thing and a Spanish fun fact and like 9 pictures, so I hope you are happy until next week. I love you allllll!!!! See you in 7 weeks for the Mother's Day phone call I guess, if your math was right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. We are loving his comments! It is fun to see that your personality doesn't change on a mission and he is still funny Mason! (Elder Parkes). The picture of the street/pile of rubble is our favorite especially considering why he took it!!! Love him!
