So Saturday I only half watched the morning session, and then missed the afternoon and priesthood, but I got to see the Sunday sessions. But I will honestly tell you that I don't remember a whole lot of what went on in the conference. But the family that we took had a great time. They are so awesome.
We also found this older couple that we are teaching. They seem really great. They are really receptive to everything and read the things we leave and understand everything really well. They were somebody that a member named N. told us to visit. N. is the future wife of a missionary that was here about a year ago. That is the way things go in this ward. People normally finish their missions here, so there are quite a few families with daughters in the US married to ex-missionaries. But don't worry, I still have too much of my mission to start looking for my wife in this area, I'm just kidding, I hope you know. But anyway this N. contacted the guy getting off a bus, because he has a really bad knee and was struggling home. She explained the priesthood to him a little bit, and when we got there, he and his wife were super interested in everything. We also just about always take members to visit the C. family. That is all we hear about in the missionary meetings is working with members and how to do it better. So you guys should help the missionaries. Even if you don't have references or anything, you should offer to go with them to help teach people, because you guys are a good normal family and won't do crazy things to scare people away. I think. Don't be crazy, even though I'm on a mission, because some people think that that is an option, that just because their sons are on missions, they can get all hysterical. It isn't an option- don't do it. (Sorry I have to write that. It is just that the crazy lady here is so crazy) And don't be scared about helping the missionaries. You can do it.
I had a great birthday, even though I got hurt the day after it. It was a really cool day, and I'm sorry that it was hard for you. And that is awesome that you had all that family time with each other and that Uncle Mike ran a marathon and that Grandma and Grandpa have their mission papers all in and everything. That is weird about the government shutting down and everything. I bet that that is a whole lot of fun, and that is all that you guys hear about all day. I hadn't heard that. We don't get a lot of news about that kind of stuff. But I bet everybody is freaking out all the time, and I think that would be pretty fun. Or maybe it is super serious and this just shows how out of touch I am.
It's weird because this week we had a discussion about cultural differences, because one of the members is this super racist lady that loves America, and she talks about how amazing America is, and my companion tells about the amazing power and standard of excellence that is Uruguay. I just think it is fun, because more often than not, they would all gang up on my companion and tell him he was wrong, and that is super fun to watch. But that is about all that's going on.
I am awesome and will talk to you again Monday, which may also be my last week here, boohoo. or I may be here another three months. Who knows? or quien sabe? as I respond to the thousands of questions that my companion asks, so that he himself can respond to them. (I'm mainly just kidding, we get along really well.) SO, I love all of you and hope that you have a great week living in your little anarchist paradise!!!!
Love, Mason
Also here is a picture we took at zone conference when a fancy Seventy came and talked to us. Also check the facebook of Hmna S. from Palmas. She went to the temple and saw us today, so there might be fotos there. (Haha, look, I spelled photos in Spanish!)
