MTC Week #3- We All Feel Good About Ourselves

Hello family!

The food is not getting old so you shouldn't send Cliff bars. I don't really need any snacks or anything. I did use your notebook to write notes for conference and everybody is very jealous. I also got all the camera stuff now, so I will probably email you some pictures later in the day. Gym time is fun and we can play basketball, volleyball, or 4-square or run around the track or something upstairs, but i just play. The field should be open sometime soon, so then we can go up there and play soccer or something and I guess we might do that. Our investigators are our teachers. One is named Hermano Bruce and the other is Hermano King. They went to Argentina and Chile respectively The names that they use as investigators are both people that they taught on their missions. I guess that sometime pretty soon we will be investigators for other companionships, so that should be fun. Ya, everybody was really excited about the Ceder temple; in fact I don't think anybody cares about the Rio temple, except a couple of people that are going to Rio. Sorry, I haven't written in a while but there isn't a ton of time for me to read letters or write anything.
We got a new district in our zone this week, and so we are not the newest people anymore. I don't really know what more to tell you. There isn't a lot going on here, but I know that you want to know a bunch of stuff. I guess I will tell you about Spanish that I'm learning. I've got the missionary purpose memorized in English and Spanish. and I can ask the question to be baptized that they have in PMG (Preach My Gospel) in Spanish, but I could probably do it in English, too. I also have the First Vision memorized in Spanish. We had to teach these volunteers that come to this place called the Training Resource Center. They were members who spoke Spanish. One of them was this lady, Sister Keele, and the other was an old man, I don't remember his name. It was weird, because we can't really teach anything in Spanish, and I'm not sure that we could have taught them anything in English. They sounded like they just spent all of their time reading the scriptures like us, except they had been doing in for years. They wrote some nice things on these little evaluation cards, so now we all feel good about ourselves. I do anyway. I guess that my companion and I, but mostly me, are hard on ourselves when we teach. We just kind of expect a lot out of ourselves, because we both have pretty good Spanish. And this other companionship will always come in and tell us about how amazing their lesson was, and about how close they are to getting Luis baptized, and they have been teaching these lessons that are so powerful and moving and the Spanish flows out of them, and they don't even know what there saying. But then we realized after about 2 weeks that they were probably exaggerating.  Sorry, I can't spell anymore- part of it is because its early, and the other part is because I write in Spanish a lot, so sometimes I just write, and I don't really care about the misspelled words. If they really are a problem, then I will try harder so let me know. (Note from Michelle- I correct the spelling and capitalization before I post- it's the teacher in me!)

I guess I'm allowed to write to family and friends, but they ask that you only write to family while in the MTC, but I might ask you to post my email address on facebook when I head out to Mexico in what might be 3 WEEKS!!! It probably won't, and I'll probably end up sitting around the MTC or getting reassigned to somewhere or something ,you know the way people do it. But I'm going to sign off until this afternoon, probably, so I will talk to you then later. I love you guys and hope that you are all having a great time.

PS to Maddie- That is awesome that you won an ipad mini, and thank you for that awesome lesson that you wanted to share with me.

Hey I tried to send you some pictures, but it doesn't seem to be working. I will try again later. I used my rain coat today to go to the temple, and it worked really awesome. I still love you guys. Bye, and I almost forgot the coolest news of all. WE SAW ELDER CHRISTENSEN from The District walking around. He is a teacher!!!

Love, Elder Parkes
