Lasting Peace Through the Gospel- Estanzuala- Week 11

I have a cool little story to tell you right now. I think it was last night. We got contacted by a drunk guy way back on Christmas, and he gave us his address and seemed alright so we stopped by him. He isn't that great, but we had a cool experience with his brother. His brother was there last night, and they were both drunk, and his brother named Artemio or something like that was telling us how much he wants to change and how bad he feels that he is a drunk and all that stuff that drunk people always say. But as we were talking with him I told him to go pour his half drunk beer out. And he didn't want to, obviously, and I told him that if he did this, he would show God that he really wanted to quit and that he wasn't just saying that. So he thought about it a little more and eventually, we got him to go out and throw the beer away. It was cool. I don't know if he is really going to change his life or not, and he was drunk and I have no idea if we will ever really be able to teach him or find him sober, but if we can I will let you know about him. I just think we have found a lot of people this week that have really sad lives, and that's why they drink. So I just tell them that they are searching for that peace in the wrong place. They can get real lasting peace through the gospel and not through alcohol. But we will see if that works out changing some of these crazy alcoholics. I'm going to send pics now.
For starters that is the front of our apartment building!!!!

Then these are a picture of a campachana. To silence other doubts about what those are.

And a picture of Elder Slater and I with La Familia Ibarra, who we ate Christmas Eve dinner with. It was super awesome.

A picture of our little Christmas tree, so that you know we had a Merry Christmas.

A picture of Elder Slater and I on Christmas morning wearing the soccer jerseys that we gave each other.

So ya, there are some pictures. I hope you enjoy them. My jersey is of Los Rayados and my comp's is the Tigres in case those were upcoming questions. I guess I should also tell you that we spend a lot of time teaching less active members, and this week was really cool, because there is this family that was inactive, because their son was in jail, and they never wanted to go to church, and they didn't really like us very much. But this week we had them at church, so it was awesome. And also weird, because they have a 17 year old daughter, and it was crazy to think that Maddie is almost that old. Also is Maddie sad that we aren't Mexican, so she can have a big quinceñera picture in our house? Because everybody here has one of those. They are huge. and they are in every house. Just like pictures of the last supper. Every. Single. House. But back to the subject of less active members, there is this guy named Leo that is super cool and would be the best member ever. He just has a weakness for alcohol and goes and gets drunk just about every Saturday. It's just because his friends do it, and he starts talking to them on the way home from work, and then he gets drunk. It's the worse. But we have been helping him, and he has actually been to church two of the last five weeks I think. Which is pretty good for Mexico in the cold time, so I'm pretty proud of him and hope that he will keep getting better. And I just got your email. (I sent him a quick email while he was still on. I said that the father in the picture looked like he was mad at the missionaries) Ibarra dad is really a really nice guy. He just always looks like that, especially because I keep trying to steal away his daughter. Just kidding, or no se crean, as you would say here. Yes we live in that downstairs part of the apartment building. But back to the drunk guy. I'm sorry if the theme of this week's emails are alcohol, but that is how many Mexicans celebrate- they get drunk and put on really loud music. So that is just what was happening this week. I hope you are all well, and you enjoy a Happy New Year. Also I gave a talk this week and told everybody in the branch to repent in the new year. We also did a branch fast for missionary work this week. Everything sooper cool- I recognize I spelled super wrong. Well I love you all. Peace out. BYE!!!!!!!!!
