Speaking of crazy things, I'm sure I've told you about J's dad. She is the recent convert of Elder Thompson, who was here right before I showed up, and now is on the other side of the river, but in our same ward. And her dad is crazy and a meta-physicist, and thinks that he is using Micheal the Archangels sword to fight 30 meteor demons. We talked with him for a while yesterday, because something big here is that everybody says Jehovah in the Old Testament is God the Father, and we have to tell them they are wrong. But it is weird, because in the English Bible, it says ¨the Lord,¨ in Spanish it will usually say Jehovah. ( I think that is why there are so many Jehovah's Witnesses here.) But we explained to him that Jesus Christ was Jehovah, and then when he was getting to see that we were right, he claimed that my companion had a bad uncontrolled energy inside of him. (I, however, had a humble vibration that was ready to learn. My energy was fitting of a messenger from God.) And honestly, I wouldn't have argued with that, but then he got up and tried to channel some energy to show his powers. My comp played along and eventually it was decided that he had some evil spirit hanging out or something. I just decided they were both completely nuts and tried to talk to the recent convert a little more. She is really cool and active and everything. She just has a lot of questions and doesn't talk straight to you. We explain everything she asks, even though she already know a lot of it.
In other really cool news, we had a Seventy come and talk to us this week about the work of salvation. Because basically you guys, the members, should do everything, and the missionaries should just teach the people, because we are specially trained and dedicated to do that. But the members should find them, take them to church and show them around, baptize them, basically do everything. So we are going to change the whole world here in Mexico, and I would bet it is changing up there, if it hasn't already. So, if you don't know the six parts of the work of salvation, they are: the missionary work of the members, retention, reactivation, temple and family history work, teaching of the gospel and autosuficiency. So, you guys should be working in doing each of those things, because that is how the members of the church will go on and gain salvation.
I'm out of things to say for a minute, so I'm going to try to send some pictures.
The first one is our district- las cahnge. Elder Mijes, Elder Franco, Elder Keenan, Elder Parkes, Hmna Martinez, and Hmna Perez, from left to right. The next two are of my desk in our new house.
The first is of Cerro de las Mitras, where we live. The next is of Cerro de las Silla, and the third is of the city, and that is Topochico in the background.
The first is of the first centipede I ever killed, and the next one is in the central on the day of changes.
The first is of the Sierra Madre, the next is Cerro de la Silla from our area at night. Then the iguana, Chihuahua, and turtles of our crazy ¨mom."
Okay, I just realized I would tell you about how this whole patriotic thing went. (Today is 16 de septiembre, Mexican independence day.) Everybody here got super excited, and it was weird, because this week Mexico played the U.S. in soccer, and the Mayweather Canelo fight was Mexico vs USA too, and basically the US just won everything, even though we probably don't care as much about any of it. So I would think Mexico would be sad, but I guess they will still party the same this night. Tonight. Spanish doesn't say tonight, so that is why I wrote this night. And I have been in Mexico for far too long. Just kidding. But I do have almost six months doing this thing, and when I do, the new girl missionaries won't be able to say that they have less time than me. Because that happened once, and it made me sad. Just kidding, it was pretty funny. Okay well, I hope that you are satisfied with all the stuff I wrote and those pictures I sent. I love you guys, and I will see you in about 18 months. Which is only a girl's mission, and everyone says those are so short and easy, so I will see you in no time. Also, you should check the mail, because you aught to be getting things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Les amoooo!!!!!!!
