We Have Bikes Now- Real de Palmas- Week 7

Hi everybody! The first thing I would like to do is wish you a belated birthday, Mom! I told some people that it was your birthday, and they wanted to know if I got to call home, and they were so shocked that I couldn't. I'm sorry that we are writing on Wednesday again, but we went to the temple. It is really awesome and I decided that we need to go to more temples when I get back. We need to just travel around and go to all the cool temples, and especially the Ceder City one, if it open when I get back.
Did you know that tomorrow will be the 3 month anniversery of my mission! That means I'm like an 8th of the way through now! It's crazy, because I only got into the MTC yesterday. And now that Gregory is leaving in a week or so and Keaton is already there, it is pretty crazy. Its also great that you're going to send pictures to missionaries' moms, because missionaries are busy, and it is hard to send pictures (but I will try to send some next week).
I hope you guys are liking the new house, and I kind of wish I could go jump in a swimming pool some days, because it can get really hot. Plus, we have bikes now, and we sweat like all get out when we ride around on the bikes. I spent 300 pesos on my bike and Elder Pena spent 450 on his, and then he blew up his tire putting air into it, so he had to replace the stuff for like another 50, so I feel pretty good about my awesome bike. I bought it in a big street market, and we were walking through, and I saw it, and I bought it, and it all worked out well, and now we can get around a little faster. But I'm not sure how much they will really help, because we can't contact people, and we sweat a lot. But we'll see. I will send a picture of our bikes next week. But about the house, it sounds really awesome, and I'm excited to go swimming in 21 months or whenever I'm back.
The investigators and that kind of stuff is probably what you want to hear about, so here it is a little. Juana of the big Torres family, she is the mother of them all, is probably going to get baptized this Sunday. We don't know for sure, because this world leadership training is throwing a bunch of problems into it, but we'll see. Also the rest of the family won't be baptized, maybe for a little while, because all the people that we thought were married weren't actually married, so it will be a little while longer, but Juana is in charge of the whole family, so if she starts, we think they'll all come following eventually. Also the other guy, Mario, is really good. And he goes to church and everything, but he doesn't want to get baptized until he is perfect, so we don't really know what to do with him. We are going to keep working with him and showing him that baptism will help him get better, and it isn't some end result that affirms his perfection, but we will see.
I hope you guys are all doing awesome.
Wait, I just remembered that it was Father's Day, and I'm not sure I talked about Mother's Day a whole lot, and since it is Mom's birthday I will just tie them all in. There is a picture in the mission office of the 2000 Stripling Warriors, and as everybody knows, those guys were super cool, because of their moms, and more generally all of the scripture people tend to be awesome because of their parents. Like in Enos, Enos says that the words that his father often spoke were what lead him to his prayer and everything. And Nephi had his goodly parents, and Alma the Elder helped fix Alma the Younger through his prayers, so I just want to let you guys know that you are awesome parents, and that I am here doing good things thanks to you guys, in some small part at least. Just kidding, but you guys are really awesome, and I'm glad I have awesome parents So, you guys just keep on being awesome, so that Maddie and Lily can be as cool as me some day! Just kidding! I love you guys and hope you are all having a great time back in Las Vegas with all your air conditioning!
Love,
Elder Parkes
