Prayer Is Really Cool- Real de Palmas Week 4
Dear Family,
Here are the answers to your questions:
1. (I asked him who baptized Heidi, the girl that got baptized last week) Heidi's dad
2. (How are is the family of 15 that they started teaching last week) They are good, but we weren't able to get them to church, because we didn't get to their house when we told them we would, and they all left or went back to sleep, but they are all good and we see them just about everyday.
3. (Tell us about meeting Elder Holland. Did you get to shake his hand?) Ya, we all got to shake his hand, and it was great. It was really funny, and I think we all loved it. One of the things he talked about was loving every moment of your mission, the good the bad and the ugly, then he said something about Clint Eastwood. Maddie is a Clint Eastwood fan so she should like that. I thought his talk was a nice pep talk, and it got me excited for the rest of my mission, but Elder Holland is what they call here in Mexico a planchador, which actually is an iron, but when we want to talk about calling somebody out or something like that we call it planching. Which is ironing but it has the two meaning here.
4. (Tell us about your travels to Saltillo) Our travel to and from Saltillo wasn't that exciting.
5. (Have you gotten some of the letters that we have send through dear elder or our package that we mailed?) We have actually been to the offices fairly frequently so far, but I'm not sure the way it is supposed to go. I haven't got a package or anything. If you guys still haven't sent that package I could use a few things...If you already sent it, it's okay, maybe next time.
I brought my camera this time, so I can send you some pictures! They are from the baptism, so there is the familia Doria, my companion and I, and elder Shiebler and his companion, because we had to do it over at their building which is really nice, like a normal church building.
But now I will turn to my spiritual experiences of the week. We had two really awesome experiences with prayer. One was with our pregnant woman, Jessica. She prayed for like the first time ever, and it was really cool. Because it made me think about Joseph Smith a lot and the way he said that it was his first uttered prayer with the first vision and everything. And then she had her first uttered prayer, and she was probably more embarrassed than anything, but it was really cool, even though she didn't really know what she was doing or anything. Then we had another cool experience with Mario. We hadn't seen him for like 2 weeks, but then we stopped by one night, and at the end of the lesson, we all knelt down, and he prayed, and it was really spiritual and we was crying and it was awesome. And then the next day I guess he said we was going fishing instead of to church ,so I don't really know what's up. I was on divisions that day with zone leader Elder Chandler. Who is from Ceder City, Utah. He is going home is like 2 months, and I can't remember if he know the Coxes or not. But the point is that prayer is really cool and Elder Holland said something that kind of ties in. Because God is our loving Heavenly Father and he wants us to talk to Him, we need to pray. Because I bet you guys know what it feels like to miss your kid. But we can talk directly to God in prayer anytime, and I only get once a week, so we should pray more. And also the thing that makes our church different is that we believes that God talks to us to . Personally and through prophets. I read the missionary library book by Elder Ballard today, Our Search for Happiness, or something like that. It was really good, and you should all read it, because it is written to nonmembers really, so when I say you all, I am talking to everybody in the whole world.
But now to my family, I love you guys, and I hope that you are all safe and having fun. But I know you're safe, because you have angels watching over you while I'm away, so just have fun. Because I realized that school is almost over, isn't it? Crazy people. But time just keeps speeding up, and I can't believe I've already been in Mexico for almost a month, so I will see you before I know it. But yep, I love you guys, and you are all awesome, and I hope you all do super awesome things and have fun. And I think the cockroach left, especially after it saw the butt-whooping I opened up on this black widow the other day. But there it is, and I hope you all keep on keeping on and try to love every minute of your life. I've basically been commanded by an apostle to love my mission, so i don't have a choice, but i bet you could like every moment you've got there, so maybe just keep that in mind. So until next time, adieu my beloved brethren, or whatever it says at the end of Jacob.
Love, Mason
