(Morning) Hi
family! Monday is p-day for us, and I get to email you guys. I've decided that
I'm going to try to split up my email time between the morning and the
afternoon, so you might be able to email me back if you get this. I could
answer again in the afternoon. I am having a great time here. Don't worry about
me or anything. The people here are great, and the food is good and everything
is fine. I cant really remember everything that I told you in my other letters,
so I might repeat some things. Yesterday was Sunday, and it was really good. We
did a lot of cool things, and it was really fun. We all went and sang in the
choir. If you sing in the choir you can get a seat for the Tuesday devotionals
and I guess those ones are the best so it is hard to get to them live. We were
singing Joseph Smith's First Prayer (the one that goes "within the shady
woodland") and it was really cool. Everything here is cool and also cold.
It is really cold here. For me at least; everybody else is from cold places,
and they say that the weather is lovely. I don't know how much I told you about
my companion but his name is Elder Day, and he is from Fillmore Utah. Half of
our district is from Utah, I think. Then there is a kid from Washington, Idaho
and Indiana. Anyway, my companion is pretty cool. I'm not entirely sure how
much stuff there is for me to say, and I know that you won't like all my short
letters, but I don't always have a ton of stuff to say. I will probably write
letters to you pretty often, but I don't really know how much good stuff I will
have to say. There isn't much that happens here. Most of the day we study. We
spend the majority of our time in this little classroom with just our district
of 8 guys. We spend more time there than we do in the residence. For real. We
study a lot and then sometimes a teacher comes in and teaches us for 3 hour
blocks of class time. We have two 3 hour blocks, but right now we are spending
one of them taking turns teaching Luis, our investigator. We have to do it in
Spanish, and it is really hard. Well, that took me 15 minutes, and I'm going to
get off now, but if you get this you should reply to it and I'll have 15
minutes later so that I can go ahead and talk to you later. I love all of you
and I hope that you are all having a good time without me.
(Afternoon) It is weird that you haven't got any of my letters yet but I'm sure you will soon. I will probably have more stuff in letters than in emails, because the whole email thing is stressful with the time limit. I have seen Trent and Chaz. We do a lot of good things, and it is fun. We went to the temple today, plus we get a temple walk on Sunday. Those are fun. Our teacher is named Brother King, and he went to Chile on his mission. I guess we will have more teachers latter, but right now he is it. Spanish is okay, and I'm pretty good at it. We as a district are all doing pretty well, and a lot of the people that have been here longer are impressed. I hope that you will get my letters soon, because I do have a lot more stuff in them. Thank you guys for the stuff that you sent me. I love you guys and hope that you are all doing awesome!
Love, Elder Parkes
