(From a Letter)
Dear Family,
It's my first night at the MTC. My companion's name is Elder Day. He is from Fillmore. He is a nice guy, and we are getting along well. We had a busy day today. We started with learning Spanish, and then we went to this big meeting where the MTC President and his wife talked to us. After that, my district went and unpacked some of our stuff. Then we went to these big meetings where our "investigator" (we think they're actors) would start talking to two missionaries, but then the whole class would try to teach the investigator. It was kind of fun, and we learned a lot. After that we went back to our language class, and we mostly just went over a few orientation things.
Now we are just sitting around. There are two bunk beds in our room, and I have the top bunk. Elder Day is a really big guy, so that is probably for the best. I met a group of guys that are going to Wisconsin Hmong speaking. Everyone that I've been in classes with (language classes) have been going to Monterrey West, and I guess that that is pretty unusual. I realized today that I forgot my baptism pants in addition to the tie. Sorry that I always need things, but I don't think I'm needing anything else. I love you guys, and you don't need to worry about me or anything. I've got a little paper that says my expected departure date is April 29th. I don't know if it will be accurate or anything, but I just thought that you might want to know. Also I've got a card that gives my end mission date as March 2nd, 2015. I hope that you guys are all having a good time, and I think that the MTC will be an alright time.
(March 21) This is my second day. I'm sorry that I didn't mail a letter on the first day. Today was a very good day. We learned a lot more stuff. Tomorrow we will have to try to talk to our first investigator. His name is Luis or something, and he is from Argentina (not really). We have to teach him in Spanish. My companion and I are probably the best companionship at Spanish and everything, so I think that we might do okay.
My companion is the district leader. I guess that is pretty cool, because he is the one who checks the mail. I'm sure that there is a ton of stuff that I am not writing about. We have really busy days, and I can't really remember all of the stuff that I wanted to write, but I guess I just want to let you guys know that everything is great here. I love you guys, and I hope you are all doing awesome.
Sincerely, Elder Parkes
