Eternal Significance- La Fama- Week 5

Woohooo!! That is all great. I like all of that stuff. I was looking forward to reading about this week since Monday. It is great that Maddie has Mr. Marshal. He is really cool. I think I did have Mrs. Hawley. It was math in 9th grade, and I might have been bad. I don't really remember. Plus, it is super cool that Grandma and Grandpa Brown are getting ready for their missions. I think that the senior missionary couples are awesome. I'm sorry that your class is crazy. I tell people that my mom is a teacher in ¨kinder¨ as it is so creatively called here. I think that all of the people here are totally crazy, so maybe that will comfort you a little bit. Because there are so many people that go inactive because somebody said something and stupid stuff like that. And it actually gets to the point that it is a problem for us. Because when people offer food it is rude not to take it. Like in the U.S., you politely offer food and expect to be declined, and you pretend that you are good friends, but here they go crazy if you don't eat anything. That is what is the most different. Here everybody wants to spend a ton of time with the missionaries and just hang out, and maybe eat something later. But if you just run away, and don't spend time and eat and hang out they will all think you are a jerk. I mean, we always turned off the TV when the missionaries came over, and then we fed them listened to a spiritual thought, and then they left. Here you show up to eat, and they tell you to sit down and wait while they finish cooking, and the rest of the family keeps watching TV and don't even care we are there. And they don't eat with us. They are just running around the whole time, and by the end, the whole family is gathered around the TV, and you can't share a spiritual thought with them. So i don't know if everywhere in the U.S. is like our house was, or if I even remember right, but I think it would be cool to serve in the U.S. for a change just to see. And today we went to the offices to eat carne asada, and we saw two people who were getting deported. But only for three days or so. So we will see about that. But the moral of the story is help the missionaries, because here in Mexico, the people don't have the same vision of missionary work as we do. It is one of just many cultural differences that make us all so special.
We haven't seen Perla lately, and we aren't going to spend a ton of time over there, because there is only so much we can do to help people if they don't want to help themselves. Because you actually have to want to change for the gospel to help you, and if you don't care about anything, then you aren't going to have what it takes to join the church. I don't know if any of that sounds weird or mean or anything, but if it does just forgive me, because I'm kind of writing fast. But that thing about caring. If there is one big difference between the members' houses that we visit and everybody else, even a lot of inactive members, is that the members' houses are just better. Just neater, more organized, less cluttered, just more cared for. Because it doesn't even vary with money that much, it all really boils down to how much people care about stuff. And I think that the members realize the importance of things more than a lot of other people. Because honestly, everything we do has an eternal significance. So if you just sit there and don't care about anything, it is because you don't fully understand who you are. And our house was always okay. I know you, Mom, will probably read this and think you should go clean the house more, but our house never looked that bad compared to the houses I'm in and out of all day, so you don't have to worry.
That is all I've got this week. I love you all, and I hope that you will all tell me about your fun next week and all the fun things you are doing. I love you all and will talk to you again Monday, just a few days away, so I love you. Bye!
Love, Mason
